Media personality Toke Makinwa has conveyed an uplifting message to single women and those who have yet to experience motherhood, urging them not to permit societal expectations to dictate their value.
After welcoming her first child, a baby girl named Yakira Eliana, at the age of 40, Toke shared her appreciation for the divine timing in her journey.
On Instagram, she shared screenshots of hurtful comments from critics, recognizing the scrutiny women endure regarding their marital status and parenting choices.
She emphasized that marriage and motherhood should not be regarded as the only indicators of a woman’s satisfaction.
Toke encouraged women to prioritize personal development, silence societal distractions, and believe in God’s plan, revealing that despite earlier criticisms, she has now discovered happiness and contentment in motherhood at the perfect moment.
She expressed, “I’m not one to even pay attention to negativity. I’ve cultivated a resilient brand from the challenges that have been hurled at me over the years, and one undeniable truth about God is that He cherishes those you may judge. I’m sharing this for anyone out there facing strife, delays, shame, and all the absurd obstacles life can occasionally present.
“It’s interesting how, regardless of how much you progress in your career as a woman, society continues to celebrate the milestones you haven’t yet reached. Marriage has transformed into a benchmark for fulfillment, and if you’re still waiting for a child, hmmmmmmm! A very heavy sigh.
“Thank you, Jesus, this chapter has concluded in triumph. You were not late; you simply wanted my heart to be aligned, and I’m grateful for the network of women you’ve surrounded me with during this time.
“I’m aware there are ladies who feel they are racing against time; society wants you to think you’ve missed your opportunity, and you may even start to believe it, but that’s simply not true.
