The Police Command of Nasarawa State has verified the detention of a 22-year-old individual accused of attempting to kidnap three minors in Mararaba, located in the Karu Local Government Area.
SP Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson for the command, stated that the alleged perpetrator, named Aisha Hashiru, was apprehended on Thursday evening at the bustling Orange Market after alert members of the community raised an outcry while she allegedly tried to flee with the children. “She was on the verge of being attacked when the Divisional Police Officer of Mararaba ‘A’ Division deployed his team, protected both the suspect and the minors, and transported them to the station for their safety,” Nansel explained in a statement.
He further mentioned that initial investigations indicated that Hashiru reportedly intruded into the residence of Ramatu Auwal around 5:00 p.m. on the same day and attempted to abduct her three children: Fatima (4), Shafiyi (5), and Amina (6). As per the police, the suspect admitted to enticing the children by pretending to buy them biscuits. Nansel noted that the case has now been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa Command, has instructed detectives to enhance efforts to address other reported instances of missing children within the state. He also praised the residents of Mararaba for their vigilance while urging communities to stay alert.
