The shocking news was confirmed in a social media announcement by entertainment journalist and Best of Nollywood Awards founder Seun Oloketuyi, who described the incident as a devastating loss to the Nollywood community and to those who knew the actress personally.
Akintunde, widely remembered for her roles in classic TV dramas such as Everyday People and Palace—both major hits from the early 2000s produced by Tajudeen Adepetu—was a beloved figure in the Nigerian entertainment scene before relocating abroad.
According to reports, the actress died a few days ago, and her family and close friends are said to be struggling to come to terms with the sudden tragedy. Despite having accepted the painful reality, many remain deeply shaken by her untimely passing.
She is survived by her daughter, who sources say is gradually processing the loss of her mother.
After making her mark in Nollywood, Akintunde moved to the UK where she began a new chapter, venturing into private business while remaining connected to her artistic roots.

In just the past few months, the industry has witnessed the demise of several other prominent figures, including actress Monalisa Stephen, who passed away earlier this month due to complications from low blood sugar and internal bleeding, and veteran actress Nkechi Nweje, who died in March after a brief illness. She was recently laid to rest in Anambra State, with dignitaries including Peter Obi in attendance.
In February, the film world was rocked by the sudden death of producer Rotimi Raji, who collapsed and died in his bathroom.
