Reports have emerged that CSP Ekene Nwosu, a former head of the Anti-Robbery Unit in Akwa Ibom State, has passed away under mysterious circumstances in Ekiti State.
Nwosu was a highly controversial figure, accused by many of corruption, abuse of power, and human rights violations. Multiple individuals, including activist Da Zion Umoh, had ongoing legal battles with him, alleging that he framed innocent people, sold off impounded vehicles through questionable court orders, and worked with powerful political and religious figures to suppress justice.
Umoh claims to have won several court cases against Nwosu and had taken steps to expose his alleged misconduct at the national level. He also alleges that hundreds of innocent people remain in prison due to Nwosu’s actions.
While some mourn his passing, others see it as the end of a painful chapter in Akwa Ibom’s troubled law enforcement history.
